Deep in the mountains of Japan lies Kawane, a traditional tea district with roots dating back to the 17th century. The small, family-run tea plantations here can almost be compared to the vineyards of Burgundy – small productions, unique growing conditions and an uncompromising focus on quality.

Among these is Shizuoka Nouen, run by fourth-generation tea farmer Mr. Konishi. Only small quantities of premium tea are produced here, which often disappear quickly after harvest.
