Chandigarh-The Beautiful City
Chandigarh – also known as the beautiful city – is located at the foot of the Himalayas, between Haryana and Punjab. In the 1950s, Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier was commissioned to design what would become one of India’s most famous cities. It also became one of his life’s works. Full of parks and long green avenues, and with a small Eiffel Tower in the city center, as well as 100s of local tea shops on almost every street corner, Leaf Hunters has been created.
Lovely Leaves
A good cup of tea can take your mind to other places. Transporting you to the armchair in front of the fireplace at the cottage, or to stately homes and establishments. The scent of spices and tropical fruits, citrus and vanilla, takes you to faraway places. We at Leaf Hunters hunt for the best tea experience for you so you can have a little adventure in your everyday life.
Luxury Directly To You
The teas we present to you are the result of our trips to tea plantations in Darjeeling and Sri Lanka and countless hours of tea tasting. We have direct agreements and close contact with many tea plantations. This allows us to have good control over the quality and give you the best experience at a price you can afford.
Hope it tastes good!
First Stop Darjeeling
Our first stop on the journey is Darjeeling, a beautiful mountain area at the foot of the Himalayas. On clear days, you can see Kanchenjunga, the world’s 3rd highest mountain in the distance.
The tea plantations wind along the mountain slopes as far as the eye can see.
Tea came to Darjeeling in 1841 when Dr Campbell planted some tea bushes around his house in Beechwood at an altitude of just over 2000 meters.
It quickly became clear that this was a very suitable place for tea production. Today, there are 87 tea plantations in the area, which together produce 10,000 tons of tea each year.
The tea from here is often called the Champagne of teas because it is extra fresh, elegant and rich in aroma.
Hunters team
In the fall of 2023, Andrea & Marius rented out their apartment in Oslo and traveled to India. Here in India, tea or “Chai” is sold on every street corner and is part of every phase of the day. For breakfast, after work, when friends meet, or when you just want to have some good free time in your everyday life.
When you meet, you often ask, have you drunk “Chai”?
Each place makes its tea a little differently, but always with pride.
In the fall of 2023, we went to Darjeeling and tasted some of the best that is produced in India and in the rest of the world. We visited beautiful tea plantations and were happy to see that tea pickers were treated with respect and had good conditions. It was exciting to see how the different managers had such great interest and respect for the tea they produce.
As the experience grew on us, we became more and more eager to bring these wonderful flavors to Norway!
We want every tea presented in our online store to be a unique experience. A tea we are proud to share with you.
First flush, Second flush Muskatell and Silver Needles are our favorites, what will be yours?
The team is getting bigger
In Bodø in the north lives the practical and wonderful Natalie. She has warm memories of her childhood and drinking tea with her dear grandmother. As social as she is, she thinks a cup of tea tastes extra good with a good conversation.
She makes sure that things are done according to current laws and regulations, packs all our teas by hand and makes sure that it reaches you.
Just outside Oslo lives Jessica, the creative soul of the team. With a background in sales and styling, she has an eye for detail. In 2024 she became part of the team and she is now our customer contact in the Oslo area.
Tea is not just a drink, but also health, well-being and joy, culture and nature. Good tea is grown, picked and made with care.
Our wish is to be able to share some of these moments with you.
